Bathroom Remodeling
What We Do
CUSTOM BATHROOM REMODELS FOR HOMES, CONDOS, AND COMMERCIAL PROPERTIES
According to the National Association of Home Builders, bathroom remodels are one of the highest-return renovations a homeowner can make. Cramped layouts, dated tile, and aging plumbing are the most common reasons families reach out. Our design process is collaborative from day one, and because Mila's is a one-stop shop, the same team that draws up your plans also builds them — no juggling three contractors while you're living out of your hallway.
Our Process
Here’s exactly what happens after you call
01
The Call
First we assess whether this is an emergency — we can often help you shut the water off while still on the phone. What space is affected? How much water do you see? When can we inspect?
05
Finish & Walkthrough
Tile, vanity, fixtures, and paint go in. We do a final walkthrough with you before calling the job done.
02
Design & Free Quote
We walk your space, take measurements, and put together a design concept with a free quote that details every stage of the project.
03
Selections & Permitting
You pick tile, fixtures, vanity, and finishes. We handle any permits needed for plumbing or electrical work.
04
Demo & Rough-In
Old fixtures, tile, and drywall come out. Plumbing and electrical get roughed in behind the walls before anything new goes up.
Insurance
With a claim or without one — we handle both
During the inspection we look at what type of damage you’ve experienced and whether it’s worth involving insurance at all. Claims can raise premiums and deductibles, so we’ll give you an honest read before anyone files anything.
Without insurance involvement
We provide a private quote detailing each stage of the process.
▸Work authorization agreements for both mitigation and reconstruction
▸One company start to finish — no coordinating trades
▸Honest input on what actually needs to be replaced
With insurance involvement
We work directly with your insurance company and provide all necessary documentation.
▸We use the same estimation program insurers use, so pricing lines up
▸Photos and material samples sent straight to your adjuster
▸Bills go to your provider — you cover the deductible on day one
Warning Signs
SIGNS IT'S TIME TO REMODEL
Bathrooms take daily wear, and small issues compound fast. If you notice any of these, it's worth getting a plan together.
▸Cracked or discolored grout and tile
▸Soft or spongy flooring near the tub or toilet
▸Outdated fixtures that no longer match your style
▸Poor storage or a cramped layout
▸Mold or persistent musty smell
▸Water stains on the ceiling below
Recent Work
A CRAMPED 1980s BATHROOM, REBUILT IN THREE WEEKS
This Des Plaines family was working with a single sink and a tub they never used. We reconfigured the layout to add a walk-in shower, double vanity, and heated tile floor — designed and built with them from first sketch to final walkthrough.

Water damage FAQs
-
Timelines vary with scope. A cosmetic refresh (new vanity, fixtures, paint) usually takes 1–2 weeks. A full renovation involving layout changes, plumbing, or electrical work typically runs 3–5 weeks. We'll give you a specific timeline during your quote, before any work begins.
-
Both. Mila's is a one-stop shop — the same team that designs your layout and picks finishes with you also builds it. You won't be coordinating between a separate designer and contractor.
-
Yes. If you want to relocate a toilet, sink, or shower, we handle the plumbing and electrical rerouting along with any required permits. We'll walk you through what's possible and what it adds to cost and timeline.
-
In most cases, yes — especially for single-bathroom-at-a-time projects in homes with more than one bathroom. We section off the work area to contain dust and keep the rest of your home usable. If you only have one bathroom, we'll talk through options so you're not without one for long.
-
It depends on the scope. Cosmetic updates (vanity, fixtures, tile) usually don't require a permit. Moving plumbing, electrical, or load-bearing walls typically does. We pull and manage any required permits as part of the project.
